Minister for State Development and Innovation Tony McGrady today toured the Rubens Fine Foods factory today in a show of support for new and emerging exporters in the Gold Coast region. During his media brief Minister McGrady was quoted as saying " Rubens is a wonderful example of a smart small business which has carved itself a niche in the gourmet food market" and praised the company's commitment to innovation.

Rubens Fine Foods was awarded the " Retail, Wholesale & Distribution Award Category" in the 2004 October round of judging in The Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards. During the presentation ceremony at the Gold Coast City Council Chambers, His Worship, the mayor Councillor Ron Clarke, and The President of the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards, Mr Ian Cousins, presented Directors, Dirk Weemaes & Wilfried Goemans, with the prestigeous award in recognition of 20 years of success on the Gold Coast.

Rubens Fine Foods received an award as "Emerging Exporter Winner of the 2004 Gold Coast Region Export Awards".The award, personally signed by The Hon. Peter Beattie, Qld Premier and Minister for Trade, and was awarded by The Hon. Tony McGrady, Queensland Minister for State Development and Innovation.
